Tips 'N Tricks

Ok! Now consider the fact that I'm pretty much still a "newby" at scrapbooking (not to mention building websites)...so, here I've listed some helpful hints that hopefully others more "green" than myself can use!
I have collected these tips from various web sites, "how-to" books and fellow scrappers, and I give much thanks and credit to them!
I hope you find these Tips 'N Tricks useful in your own evolution as a scrapbooker!
As always if you have anything to add please e-mail me and I will  be glad to give you credit for any ideas I use on my site!

Photo/Scrapping Supplies Storage
Tip 1.  Plastic card file boxes can be found in the school supplies section of most groceries, the store photos perfectly (provided they aren't oversized prints)

Tip 2.  Handy dandy old shoe boxes can be used when all else fails to store photos..plastic freezer bags are an inexpensive way to organize your photos before placing them in the box.

Tip 3. A shoe box is also a way to store die cuts....simply cut a piece of hard cardstock to use as a seperator for each theme, make it slightly taller and label them so you can see them above the die cuts.
(thanks Tracy for this idea!)

Tip 4.  Inexpensive plastic divided tackle boxes can be used to store punchies or small die cuts.  A good idea to keep them from mixing up is to tape a piece of cardstock over the top of the divided sections (one piece over the entire inside of the box, cut to fit so the lid can close) and cut small slits in each section so the pieces can be slipped in easily.  When you need to take punchies out, simply lift one side of the tape and lift the cardstock up. (thanks to Lori for this one!)

Tip 5.  Iris carts can be purchased at most office supply stores or home supply stores for around $20.  These are carts with 3 or 4 drawers with wheels.  They are perfect for storing punches, stamps, papers and anything too bulky to put in your "main" scrapping supply case. The wheels make them portable to a point so you can "scrap on the go!"  (Check out
Never Ending Memories for some great deals on carrying cases and totes!)

Safe Removal of Old Pictures
Tip 1.  Use a piece of dental floss to gently lift the corner of a picture then slide under the entire picture, take your time and the picture should come up unharmed

Tip 2.  Use a glue solvent solution like "UNDO" which can be found in most scrapbooking and craft stores...this is also good for stickers and other adhesive mounted items, it desolves the glue temporarily so it may be moved and remounted.  REALLY COOL PRODUCT!

Paper Punch Maintenance
Tip 1.  To "break in" new punches or sticky punches punch several times through waxed paper to "lube" it up.  This will help make a smoother punch.

Tip 2.  To sharpen dull punches punch several times through a piece of aluminum foil, this will make them good as new!

Tip 3.  When punching always try to have a firm surface (table or hard flooring) to press down on...I have strained my wrist too many times to count from trying to do it on the carpet!!!!

Tip 4.  To save time for future punchart, when using a punch try to punch out several different colors of that punch and store them for later....you just never know when you'll need a lime green baby foot punchie!!!
