This is "home". Guam is the largest and southermost island of the Marianas archipelago and is the westernmost possession of the United States, and has been since 1898. The island is approximately 30 miles in length, with a variable width ranging from 12 miles to 4 miles at its narrowest point. Total land mass of 212 square miles and shaped like a footprint. Guam was formed by the union of two volcanoes. The island rises 37,820 feet above the floor of the Marianas Trench, the greatest ocean depth in the world (-39,198 ft. southeast of Guam). Located approximately 6,000 miles west of San Francisco; 3,700 miles west-southwest of Tokoyo; 2,100 miles southeast of Hong Kong; 1,500 miles east of Manila; and 3,100 miles northeast of Sydney.
It is west of the International Dateline and is 1 day ahead of the United States; Hense the slogan "Where America's Day Begins".
