Personal Info
Here's a little info about each us. If you want to learn more
about any of us, click on the associated "More about ..." link.
Curt is (or at least considers himself to be) an intelligent, caring,
creative, and insightful husband, father, son, brother, friend, and IBMer.
His main interests are writing, reading, observing, and analyzing.
He is considered by others to be an excellent artist and an outstanding
street hockey player.
More about Curt
Missy is a highly educated, beautiful, loving, caring woman. A former IBM manager with a Master's in Computer Engineering, her
focus is now on family; hers and those in the La Leche League groups she counsels.
She provides inspiration and guidance for Curt and Eric. Health and
fitness-oriented, she is a former gymnast and track star (one of her middle
school records still stands) who regularly exercises and plays soccer.
More about Missy
Eric is a young boy with nearly boundless energy and emotion.
He indulges in a wide variety of physical activity (Taekwondo, gymnastics, basketball,
football, baseball, soccer, hockey, wrestling, rollerblading, rollerskating, ice skating, skiing, snowboarding, snowtubing,
swimming, diving, skateboarding, biking, golf, tennis, rock climbing, whitewater
rafting, racquetball, horseback riding)
as well as vigorously applying himself
mentally to a myriad of subjects. His schoolmates are his best friends.
He is homeschooled so his schoolmates are his parents.
More about Eric
Cara was a long awaited baby (6 years), but she is well worth
every second of the wait. She is
loving, intelligent, curious, playful, funny, and
beautiful beyond words.

Vacation Diaries
If you want to learn about some of the fascinating places we've visited,
check out our vacation diaries. These are (or at least we try to
make them) entertaining, informative, personal accounts of trips to, opinions
of, observations about, and activities in some of the world's most remarkable
locales. If you are considering a vacation to one of these destinations,
we think it would be a valuable joyride to read our diary of that site.

Curt's Thoughts & Philosophies
Though this is our family homepage, Curt is taking some space on it to identify links to his personal thoughts and philosophies. If you want to read about why Curt makes the rather uncommon assertions on the topics below, follow the links (some are in the process of being added).
Topic
|
Assertion
|
Truth and Certainty |
Certainty is a state of mind that is independent of truth. Truth,
in its commonly understood sense, is not attainable. |
"Out of the Box" Dreamhouse |
There are standard design points incorporated in nearly all houses. By thinking "out of the box" one can free oneself from the binds of convention and design a unique, interesting, functional and most beautiful house.
|
Healthy, Natural Parenting |
Healthy parenting begins with an understanding of and respect for the
animal nature of our human physiology. |
Learning From A Newborn
Baby's Animal Nature |
A newborn baby gives parents an opportunity to get back to their
animal roots. |
The Manly Art of Fathering |
Our societal understanding of "manly" has changed and it can lead to a different, healthier approach to fathering.
|
Family Systems |
Understanding the family as a system is critical in understanding how
we've developed as individuals and how our children will be affected within
the family system we establish as parents. |
The Case Against Competition |
Competition is not necessary, is less healthy for individuals and their
society, and is less effective than other forms of human interaction. |
Conflicting Workplace Paradigms Cause Communication Failures |
Communication problems in the work environment, especially those
between managers and non-managers, may be due to
individuals approaching a situation from different paradigms.
Understanding the paradigms can resolve these problems. |
Factory Work |
They are jobs we do not want as individuals but have great difficulty
doing without as a society. We can make them healthier and more desirable than
just being a source of income. |
Presidential Elections |
Winners and losers are decided by the middle third of voters, who choose
based on how candidates look and sound. |
Don't Vote, Unless... |
Uninformed voting goes against the wishes of the Founding Fathers, is inappropriate, and is counter-productive; yet calls for it are common in the dumbing down of the electorate. |
The Dark Side of Camelot |
This eye-opening book reveals the horrors of the
Kennedy presidency. Why is JFK still idolized?
|
A General Rebuttal of JFK Assassination Conspiracy Theories
|
Inspired by a visit to The 6th Floor Museum in Dallas and a shocking poll indicating more than 70% of Americans
don't believe Lee Harvey Qswald acted alone.
|
One Nation Under God We Trust
|
Why the God references in our pledge and on our money is inappropriate even if it were correct.
|
Support for OJ Simpson: Murderer |
Some people believe in OJ's innocence. For some it is a race issue.
Others believe in OJ's innocence because they want to believe in America's
value system. |
Palestinian Suicide Bombings of Civilians: An Immoral and Counterproductive Choice |
Those that do not wholly condemn the Palestinian use of suicide bombings against Israeli civilians, argue it is self-defense, an understandable reaction to injustice, or an ugly means to a good end. It is none of those.
|
Modern Medicine |
In many instances, modern medicine is less helpful, less healthy, and less scientific than "alternative medicines." Still, we try to foist on it responsibility for our health; responsibility that belongs to us. |
Why Vegetarian? |
My motivation to become vegetarian and an explanation as to why it is the healthiest choice. |
Diet and Blood Type |
In his book, Eat Right For
Your Type, naturopath Dr. Peter D'Adamo makes the case that one's blood type determines the type of food on which one's
body thrives. There are persuasive arguments for and against this claim; and a personal dilemma in creates.
|
Vegetarian Ethics |
The famous, not so famous, and infamous have spoken out for and against the eating
of flesh and the use of sensing, feeling beings as mere commodities.
Their words are a powerful case for a vegan lifestyle. |
Why not to buy
a timeshare |
After experiencing and reflecting on a timeshare hard sell,
it seems clear that timeshares, in probably most every case, are bad deals. |
Easter's meaning |
The "real meaning" of Easter was not and is not as a Christian holiday. |
Aquatic Ape Theory |
There is an interesting, though little known case some anthropologists make that human evolution went through a recent aquatic phase. |
