A Little About Melody

Hello!

Welcome to my reality, my universe. I’m so happy that you dropped in. It’s great to have you here. I’ve got to admit my life is a bit crazy and chaotic around here, but you know, our lives are truly a set of adventures. You never know what’s around the next bend. That’s what makes things exciting.

I’m a single Mom with four kids (funny how that’s always the first thing I say; I just noticed that), who recently moved from the San Francisco Bay Area (Sunnyvale, CA to be exact) to this weird town in the middle of nowhere called Porterville which my Aunt Anne Marie refers to as "Pottsville." My Dad says that Porterville sounds like one of those little towns you’d hear about in the original Twilight Zone episodes. He’s got a point.

Although in the literal sense, I am technically "unemployed" and between jobs at the present time, I am a Writer who belongs to "MomWriters" and the "International Women’s Writing Guild." The MomWriters give me strength and inspiration to keep going no matter what. Even when I’m working full-time (which is most of the time because of survival issues and supporting kids), I write. It’s a part of who I am, besides being a "Mom."

We moved to escape the rising cost of housing, which finally got the best of us. San Francisco will always have a special place in my heart because I grew up there. In fact, that’s why I moved back down to California from northern Oregon after 11 years of living in the beautiful northwest. My Mom passed away, and I finished college, and I was alone with my four kids, Stevie, Melissa, Jeremy and Megan.

So, I moved back down to California, to the place I considered home. Only things had really changed. Yes, I got a great paying job, but try to survive when you’re supporting three teenagers (and their friends it seems).

Now, I just live with my 17-year-old son Jeremy and my 9-year-old daughter Megan and my present boyfriend Gary. My 18-year-old daughter Melissa still resides in the Bay Area because she refuses to live in Porterville. And, 20-year-old Stephen just moved back to Salem, Oregon – the place he still considers home.

You can read a bunch of my life adventure stories right here and learn more about my life adventures. And, there are pictures as well – of my family and friends, the people in my life and places we’ve been.

So, come on in and sit down. Let’s have a cup of coffee (or tea or whatever you prefer to drink) and visit. Welcome to my universe!
