William Comstock was born Abt. 1593 in England, and died Abt. 1683 in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT. He married Elizabeth Daniel Abt. 1628. She was born 1605 and died Aft. 1665 in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT.

William Comstock, according to "The Comstock Family in America, arrived in America about 1635, or shortly there after. He probably came with his wife and four or all five of his children. There are no records or logs showing when he came to America.

He seems to have settled in Weathersfield, Ct. The records indicate that he was one of 26 men in an expedition commanded by Capt. John Mason. They captured the Pequot Fort at Mystic, CT. on May 26, 1637, killing about 500 Indians.

In 1644 he was named in a law suit in which Richard Mills sued William Comstock and John Sadler for slander in the amount of 200 pounds. In 1647 he recieved a land grant in Pequot (New London) and moved there anound 1650. Also, in 1650 it is noted that he voted to cooperate with John Winthrop to build a corn mill. In 1651 he, along with others built this mill which is still in existance.

On February 25, 1661/62 "Old Goodman Comstock" was elected Sexton "to order youth in the meeting house, sweep the meeting house and beat out the dogs," for this he recieved 40 shillings a year. For each grave dug for a man or woman he recieved 4 shillings and 2 shilling for each child's grave.

He lived in New London to an old age, on Post Hill near the north corner of Williams and Vauxhall Streets. It is believed that he died, abt. 1683.

John Comstock (William) was born Abt. 1624, and died 1680 in Lyme, New London, CT. He married Abigal Chappell 1661 in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT, daughter of George Chappell and Christian? She was born September 1, 1644 in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT, and died February 1712/13 in Wethersfield, Hartford, CT.

John Comstock came to settle in the eastern part of Saybrook, CT. On February 13, 1666 he was a signer of the Articles of Agreement to the Separation of the town of Lyme from Saybrook. In 1666, John was a plaintiff against Matthew Griswald for slander in reference to some clapboards, and his wife, for 50 pounds. There is also a record to which John is sued in 1655-56 for adebt of 10 pounds which he owed Edward Messenger.

His estate was settled June 14, 1681 with his widow being made administratrix: " and desires Mr. Noyce (Noyes), her father Chappell, and Edward Shipman to assist her."

He married Naomi Noyes September 19, 1695 in Lyme, New London, CT, daughter of Moses Noyes and Ruth Pickett. She was born Abt. 1676 in Stonington, New London, CT, and died February 10, 1761 in Lyme, New London, CT.

The will of John Comstock of January 4, 1726/7 gives to his wife Naomi; to four youngest daughters; Ruth to have a cow; daughter Abigal to keep what she has had; a cow to wife until daughter Mary is of age; lands to sons John, William, Samuel; eldest son John, executor. Inventory, April 27, 1728, 723 pounds, 1 shilling, 7 pence.

Will of Naomi Comstock, widow of William Comstock of Lyme, of April 3, 1754, proved February 10, 1761; gives to daughters Elizabeth McCrary, Phebe Clark, and Mary Beckwith; to granddaughter Naomi Tiffany; mentions sons John, Samuel, and Abigal DeWolfe's daughters; son Samuel executer.

  2. Jehiel Comstock, b. Lyme, New London, CT. In 1779, he was one of the crew of the Continental Frigate, Confederacy. He was in Capt. Jones Militia Co. August 24 to October 30, 1777. In 1788 he was living in Royalton, Niagera, NY, in 1832, he was 75 years old. His will is dated December 13, 1832, probated April 29, 1833.
