What This Mountain Revealed To Me

It was on top of Black Mountain that we stood
There together in the quietness of the wood.
The fog thick, humid; cool
basting the purple and yellow flowers where they grew.

The U S Geological Bench Mark was located embedded in a stone
A block building containing a phone
At a lower elevation we discovered a burial plot
Only three marker stones consisted of the lot.
Just over a rise, what a suprise, a wild mother turkey in flight
And then her spring hatchlings quick in pursuit.
