Welcome to the City of Hendersonville

Incorporated in 1969, Hendersonville is one of the fastest growing cities in Tennessee. The population is estimated to be over 38,000 people. Hendersonville is the 11th largest municipality in Tennessee and is located in Sumner County, the first county in the State of Tennessee to implement an enhanced 911 system, and the 7th largest county. Also, Sumner County is the only county in the state that does not have a raw garbage landfill. Hendersonville has approximately 400 acres of maintained city parks with organized recreational programs for all age groups. The latest addtion to the city's Memorial Park is the Kid's Kingdom Community Playground, a $200,000 facility built and paid for by hundreds of volunteers in the fall of 1996. More than 30 civic service, and special interest organizations are active in the community.

Recreational choices are almost unlimited. Old Hickory Lake, created by the US Army Corps of Engineers in the 1950s, offers an irresistible lure for fun-loving Tennesseans who flock to its ever-changing Cumberland River waters. 26 miles of grass covered, sloping shorelines, cliffs and coves inside the city limits are dotted with small, private boat docks, large marinas and public boat ramps. Hendersonville hosted a major Bassmaster top 100 fishing tournament in October 1996, and will welcome the professional and amateur anglers and thousands of spectators back to town in the spring of 1998 for the Bassmaster Megabucks competition.
