Welcome to our home . . . you have just dropped in on the Vaeth family. My name is Geralyn and my husband's name is John. We have an 18 year old daughter, Jennifer. She recently graduated from high school and is now attending classes to prepare for a career as a medical assistant. She has moved to the big city of St. Louis and is spreading her wings.

John and I were both born and raised in Ste. Genevieve. We have been married for twenty-two years. John works for Mississippi Lime Company as a welder and maintenance mechanic. I work in the accounting department of a local manufacturing company.

On July 6, 1998 my grandmother passed away. She was exactly 1 month shy of celebrating her 109th birthday. She was a very special lady and I miss her terribly. Grandma still embroidered and pieced together patchwork quilts when she was in her nineties. Jennifer is lucky enough to own two patchwork quilts that Grandma hand-pieced from material that my maternity tops were made out of. Grandma actually lived alone until shortly after her 100th birthday. It's truly amazing to think of all the changes she saw in her lifetime.

John's hobbies include hunting, gardening, classic cars and collecting baseball cards. He is the proud owner of a 1977 yellow Corvette that has won several trophies at area Car Shows. John has four beagles which he has trained for rabbit hunting. He also enjoys deer hunting, turkey hunting and squirrel hunting.

Much of my spare time is spent in front of my computer. I enjoy working on my web page and surfing the net. Reading, crocheting, embroidery, going to the movies, listening to music and watching videos are among some of my other interests.

At the age of 26 I was diagnosed with breast cancer; that was 16 years ago. At the time I was totally devastated and felt very angry that this had to happen to me. Since that time, I have tried to focus on some of the positive aspects of my bout with cancer by volunteering as a Reach for Recovery volunteer with the American Cancer Society. Hopefully I have helped and inspired many other breast cancer patients.

A few years after my diagnosis I met my best friend, Holly. Unfortunately we drifted apart for a brief period of time but thank goodness we've emerged from that period becoming even closer friends.

Recently Holly was also diagnosed with breast cancer. Having experienced the physical and emotional side of this same disease I know what Holly is going through right now. Hopefully I can help her through this difficult period in her life. Holly is fortunate to have a very caring and supportive family as well as many friends who care deeply for her. Her prognosis is good and I feel very confident that she will recover fully.

Since Jennifer has moved out John and I are experiencing the "Empty Nest Syndrome." It's a real adjustment getting used to just the two of us living here now. We are still trying to figure out what to do with ourselves since life isn't as focused on taking care of our daughter. We joke about learning how to date all over again when we go out for the evening. Hopefully we have instilled some good values and life skills in Jennifer as she pursues her independence.

I hope you enjoy browsing the various pages that make up my website. Please take a few minutes to sign my guestbook and tell me what you think of my site.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Please drop in for another visit real soon!
