In Loving Memory of
George Garlon Dowdy

This is my grandaddy. Cancer took him away from us on July 30th 1996.
I know he is with the Lord now and he is watching over me and my family
and although we all miss him dearly, we know he is no longer suffering.
I have written a poem about him that I would like to share with everyone.

GRANDADDY

Dedicated to the memory of George Garlon Dowdy
Grandaddy's are always special,
but none as special as mine.
To hear me talk of him,
he hung the moon.
He always had that loving touch,
that made us all better.
He knew how to make us laugh,
when things were at there worst.
His smile lights up the sky,
like a rainbow.
His heart was strong,
and made of gold.
His touch--soft and gentle,
and for that everyone loved him.
Not everyone knows their grandfather,
and I am honored to have known mine.
I love him ever so dearly,
and that love is always returned.
I know he is now my angel,
and will always watch over me.
Even though he is no longer with me,
he will always live on in my memory.
