THE FOLLOWING WAS WRITTEN BY MY GRANDFATHER WILLIAM ELBERT KITTS IN 1990:

The Kitts' are of Irish descent and their name is from a small island called Saint Kitts near Ireland.

Our family records begin with my Great Grandfather Francis B. Kitts born in South Carolina. He died in Graves Co. Ky. on March 29, 1865 at age 67. Francis Kitts was the father of Jordan William Kitts born in Ky. on Nov. 24th, 1838. He died August 14th, 1910. His wife E. Jane Kitts was born August 29th, 1843 and she died March 18, 1898. The above Kitts' were all buried in Camp Beauregard Cemetary in Graves Co., Ky. Jordan William (my grandfather) served in the Union Army during the Civil War and took a bell from a confederate train which has been handed down to the Kitts Generation.

The family record continues with Francis Benjamin Kitts, a son of Jordan William Kitts. He was born in Ky. on Oct.2, 1875, moved to Arkansas in 1917 and died Jan. 21, 1940 in White Co. AR. He was the first to be buried in a new cemetary at Honey Hill near Searcy, AR. Francis B. Kitts married Viola Agatha Dacus on Dec. 19, 1908 in Ky. Viola was born near Water Valley, KY. on July 27, 1892 and died in Searcy, AR. on Nov. 2, 1986. She was also buried in the Honey Hill Cemetary near Searcy, AR. Viola's Father was William Henry Dacus. He was born in KY. Sept. 23, 1858 and died Feb. 15, 1940. He was buried in the Honey Hill Cemetary. Violas' mother was Virginia Alice(Yates)Dacus. She was born in KY. on May 5, 1866 and died on Sept. 25, 1948 near Searcy, AR. She was buried in the Honey Hill Cemetary. The children of Francis B. and Viola Kitts are: William Elbert Kitts born Dec. 1, 1910 and Thelma Marguariet Kitts born Sept. 27, 1914. They both were born near Water Valley, KY. in Graves Co.

The Family tree continues with William Elbert Kitts. William Elbert Kitts was married to Susie Pauline Williams on Dec. 9th, 1932 near Searcy, AR. Susie Pauline was born near McRae, AR. on Feb. 1, 1915. Her father Burl Crawford Williams was born Sept. 25, 1882 and died April 2, 1968 at age 85. Her mother Lula Jane (Groves) Williams was born Feb. 4, 1886 and died Jan. 21, 1971 at age 85. Both parents were buried in Mt. Olive Cemetary west of McRae, AR.

NOTE: THELMA MARGUARIET KITTS MARRIED ROY E. WILLIAMS A BROTHER TO SUSIE PAULINE KITTS.
