MY MYERS LINE


My Myers line originated from Germany and the census reports list my Great Great Grandfather, Nickolas Myers birthplace as Germany/Metz. Here is what I have on my Myers family:

Julious Myers and wife Gretel both died at sea of Cholera on their trip to America. Children: Nickolas Myers

MY GREAT GREAT GRANDPARENTS:

Nicholas Myers (1834/35-5/23/1905) was born in Germany. He married Olive(Anderson)Myers in 1867 in Jerseyville, Illinois according to Olive's obituary. The actual date of marriage on record was Sept. 14, 1868 (Olive Eleanor ANDERSON and Nicholas MYERS - 14 Sep 1868 by John Flamm Jersey Co. IL Marriages 1839 - 1876 by Jersey County Historical Society). Olive was born in Calhoun County, Illinois in April of 1847 and died March 2, 1922. They had the following children:
Alburtus J.(John) (born 1867 in Ill.) and married Amanda HOUSE
Matz (Born 1871 in Peoria, Ill.)and married Annie RAMSEYMore info
George F. (Born 1874 in Ill.)and married Emma ROBINSON
WILLIAM NICHOLAS (born 1876 in M0.) and married Nancy BARNETT

Birdie (Myers) Fury (born 1880 in M0.)
NOTE: The 1900 Census indicated that Nicholas and Olive had been married for 34 years and had 6 children with only 4 still living at that time. Alburtus J. and one unknown child had died prior to this census.

MY GREAT GRANDPARENTS:

William Nicholas Myers was born 12/11/1876 in Missouri and died 1/6/1942 in Arkansas. He married Nancy Ann Barnett in 1898 in Independence County, AR. Nancy was born 5/27/1871 in Arkansas and died 10/7/1932 in Arkansas. They had the following children:
Edgar (Born May 8, 1898 in Missouri)
Edward (Born May 8, 1898 in Missouri
Robert Leander (Born Nov. 10, 1901-Died Nov. 11, 1994)
Dorsey Elenor (Born April 2, 1904-Died Feb. 6, 1982)
BERTHA MAE (Born Oct. 7, 1905-Died Nov. 14, 1984)

NOTE: EDWARD'S TWIN BROTHER EDGAR DIED SOMETIME PRIOR TO 1910 and is buried in Howell Valley Cemetery, West Plains, Missouri. There was never a stone and when a new stone for Nicholas and Olive was erected the old stone of Nicholas(his grandfather) served as his burial site.

MY GRANDPARENTS

Bertha May Myers(10/7/1905-11/14/1984) married Jesse Earl Altom(1/2/1905-1/26/1967) on the 19th of January, 1924 at the Courthouse in Jackson County, AR. The were both living in Independance County at the time. They had eight children and the third oldest was my Father, BOYD WAYNE ALTOM.

ODD FACT: Bertha's Mother, Nancy died on Oct 7th(Bertha's Birthday) and Bertha died on November 11th (her daughter Francis' birthday)
