Joel Tanner Hart

Joel Tanner Hart - b.1810, d.1877. Son of Josiah and Judith Tanner Hart. Judith was a daughter of Sarah Morton and Arch Tanner, Sarah being a sister to 4th great-grandpa Samuel Morton.

Joel Tanner Hart was acclaimed as the greatest sculptor of his time. His two greatest works were the statue of Henry Clay, and one named 'Woman Triumphant.'

Hart died in Italy, but his body was returned to Kentucky, his native state, and reinterred in Frankfort.
