Welcome to My Little Corner of the World

Ned and me.
This is a place where I unwind from a hectic day, doing the mommy thing. What is the 'mommy thing'? It's homeschooling Ana, Allison, Emma and Elena while keeping Ollie and Oscar fed, dry and occupied with something else. It also means doing laundry, dishes, and helping the girls with chores. Being a mom means driving the four older ones to their sports practice and games, choir practice, youth group, scouts, monthly skating parties with the local homeschooling group...you name it, while the two little ones either tag along or stay home with Ned. For a break, I take all the children to the Children's Museum, zoo or the park. It takes a lot of faith in God, love, work, and play to raise 6 beautiful children. Nobody said it was going to be easy. However, to me, being a mom is tremendously rewarding. It is a great relief to know that we are never given more than we can handle.

And Ned? We try to go on dates every other week. It's not easy right now with all the crazy extra-curricular activities in which the girls are involved. We go on 'mini-dates'--as Ana and Allison refer to our little errands to the grocery store together. Hey, ya take whatever time y'can. Reconnecting with the spousal unit for brief moments such as these strengthens the marriage. (It also helps to have a sense of humor in these situations. :-D)

Then, there are moments when I just need some time to myself. One way I relax is by buying and selling on eBay. Another way of relaxing is to read up on my political interests, which, as you notice from the links below, are conservative.
