THOMAS TURNER was born May 1857 in Maryland. He was 43
years old and lived in Prince George, District 7, Queen
Anne, Maryland. His wife, MARIAH [CLEGGETT, according to
her daughter, Helen (Turner) James]was born June 1862 in
Maryland, and was listed as age 38. They had been married
21 years and had seven children listed on this census:

  1. FLORENCE* (my Great-Grandmother), born December 1879;
    age 20 on the 1900 census record
  2. Thomas, Jr., born November 1881, age 18
  3. May E., born April 1881 [sic] on census; possibly
    born 1883 since she's listed as 17
  4. John W., born April 1882, listed as 16
  5. Jame H., born June 1889, age 10
  6. Charles A., born February 1894, age 6
  7. Helen (Aunt Helen James), born February 1896, age 4 All were born in Maryland.

    Thomas and Mariah were renting their house. Thomas was a farmer.
    Thomas, Jr. and John W. were farm laborers. James H.
    was in school. Thomas, Mariah, Florence, Thomas, Jr.,
    May E., and Jame H. were listed as being able to read, write
    and speak English. Thomas and Mariah's parents were
    all born in Maryland.
