First I would like to thank you for placing this information on the web. I have been researching the McCormick side of my family for several years, at the begining knowing little about the origins of the family. Your text, begining with the plantation, xplains much for me, and finally puts it all together. The knowledge that and ancestor, Capt. James McCormick, was involved in the seige of Derry now means much more to me. Thanks again.

Thank you so much for explaining the difference between the Ulsters of the 1700's and the Irish of the 1830's.. My family came to the Colonies in the early 1700's... don't know exact date.. And were one of the 5 families that were first to cross the Alle hany (s?) Mnts into Donegal Tnship thus starting the "Westward Movement".. If you have any additional info regarding this would appreciate knowing.. Sincerely, Maggie Gourley-Severns

I am looking for any informatioon that may help me to link him to other families and across the seas. Any help is appreciated.

As a child I was told we were Scots/Irish, but virtually no oral history was passed along to me. My grandfather, Warren Cummings Gray, (born 1853) was Presbyterian, which I understand is to be expected, but, so far, I have had no luck in tracing my line back beyond him (although I understand his father's name was Thomas). I understand the Gray's cam to southern Illinois from Kentucky, after earlier migrating from Virginia. Maybe someone reading this can give me a clue. Thanks for listening!

Since computers we are reaching out to family we didn't know we had. I was left quite a lot of information but not enough. The family is illusive. Probably hiding. Also, many spellings of the name. McCalman/McCalmant, McCalmon/McCalmont, to name a ve y few. I would like to find the name in Ireland. Think we were in Ireland before we were in Scotland. Then, back to Ireland before coming to U.S. Hopefully, I'll find the family.
