Delta Queen Steamship to Stop in Columbia in 2001

Officials of the Delta Queen Steamship Company recently made a visit to Columbia to evaluate it as a possible stop on its Ouachita River itinerary for 2001. They praised it as an appropriate tourist destination, with shopping, food and sites of interest within easy reach of the dock. The itinerery for the 2000 Ouachita River cruise has already been set, but we have been assured that Columbia will be included in next year's schedule.

Special events may center around the arrival of the cruise ship, such as tours of local sites of interest, a concert, or possibly a luncheon or tea to welcome cruise passengers.

Columbia hopes to become a regular stop for the line on future cruises.
