St. John Ambulance Brigade
Newmarket 910 Division
WHO ARE WE? WHAT DO WE DO?
We are a group of uniformed volunteers, trained
in first aid and health care. We provide first aid services at various
community
events like fairs and hockey tournaments, when requested by event
organizers. Our Division, along with the Newmarket 910C Cadet/Crusader
Division, covers events in the area of
Newmarket, Ontario (about 40 km north of Toronto).
The Brigade does not replace local emergency
medical services, but rather handles initial treatment of casualties
until EMS arrive on the scene.
Local authorities can also request Brigade assistance during an emergency/disaster situation. For example, Brigade members helped with first aid, general patient care duties, and other tasks during the big ice storm of January 1998 in Eastern Ontario and Southern Quebec.
Our Division meets for training and administration every Wednesday
evening at 19:30, in the St. John Ambulance office/classroom on the second
floor of
the Tannery building near Davis Drive and Main Street in
lovely Newmarket. We also try to get together for some sort of
fun social event every couple of months.
If you're interested in joining our Division,
you're welcome to attend one of our weekly meetings. Just
show up and introduce yourself! Here is some

If you'd like the Brigade to cover your event (in York Region)
please contact the St. John Ambulance York Region Branch office
at (905) 508-8777 or 1-800-268-1677, at least two weeks prior to the
event. The office will then assign the duty to one of the Brigade
Divisions in York Region. You can also call the Branch
to obtain information about
first aid and CPR courses it offers to companies and the general
public.
