What Is your devotion to frogs, and how did you become this way?

Reply:

I guess some might say that having a liking to frogs (White's in particular) may seem a bit strange. I have always had an interest in amphibians and reptiles. I remember going on trips to Canada as a youngster, and playing with frogs, and tadpoles. Later, I moved to a wonderful town named Williamson, and found an ambundace of local wildlife. Then I grew...

It was back in 1996 that my interest in frogs became more substantial. There I was, lying in bed with a severe flu, and about all I could bring myself to do was pick up my TV remote, and turn on the television. Needless to say, I had a very high fever and thought I was halucinating when I happen to see a show on Animal planet about frogs (later I learned that it was a show called "Acorn the Nature Nut: There is nothing wrong with frogs". I watched the show, and after seeing John Acorn's White's "Handsome Moe" hop onto his head, I decided that if I managed to live through this downright nasty flu, I would get a White's for a pet.

Needless to say, I managed to recover from my flu... :). So, a few weeks later, I converted an old 35 gallon fish tank into a vivariam, and when out to find my first White's tree frog. When I got Kermit, he was so small (about the size of my thumb nail). He's sooo cute!! I decided that I would do all the research on White's throughout the Internet, and through books. Easier said then done. Throughout the past few years, I have managed to get some great books about frogs, but trying to find information on the "Information Super Highway" seemed to turn up very little.

I had so many questions about my new little froggy, that I was soon to become annoyed with the lack of information/or lack of responses from frog web page owners. Then I found "Frog Land" on the Internet. Dorota has created a wonderful site, and even took the time to answer all my "stupid" questions. She is GREAT, and I am forever in her dept.

Then it hit me..... If I can not find information about White's on the Internet, why don't I add it? Hence, I started this web site.

At this time Kermit had started getting bigger, but looked lonely. So I thought it was time to get him a companion. I tried to find a new White's at all the quality local petstores, but none of them had any White's. I broke down and went to a Pet$m@art. And there sat Peabody..... on the brink of starvation. I looked at her, and decided someone has to save this frog!!! So, I bought her. She was already quite large, and I thought she might try to eat Kermit..... but I felt that someone had to save this frog from such awfull conditions. And I am happily to say, that I have managed to bring her back to health, and she is a happy plump froggy today!! :))))

Then I started this web page. Of course, my first goal was to help provide information on White's tree frogs. This site is always growing, and hopefully, someday, I will have it set up to answer all questions concerning White's.

About Me

I currently work for PACTIVŠ, and am happy with my job. I am 33 years old (man that's old), and have about 3 years collage experience for a computer science major with a minor in music theory (from RIT and MCC).
I live in the town of Fairport New York (just outside Rochester New York). It is a great area to live in.

My music and movie taste seem to have much to be desired. If someone were to ask me my favorite movie, I guess that would vary.... I love a good Muppet movie, but I also love a good horror/zombie movie. I guess my favorites would be "The Muppets Take Manhatten" and "Dawn of the Dead (director's cut)." My favorite music would range between Bach and Metallica.

About the Background Music

If your browser supports the "embed" tag, you should be hearing "March of the Frogs in A minor in the background. It is a song I wrote for guitar, then tried to convert it to midi. Actually, it is a adaptation of the original song that I am trying to convert for Lychele. It will be added to Lychele's precious Georgia's memorial page when it is finished (if she still wants it). Give the short segmant a listen and let me know what you think...
Note: This file was created using a Sound Blaster AWE64. So it might sound like poop if you do not have a quality sound card.
