Feeding of the White's tree frog

Feeding of the White's tree frog

A Healthy White's tree frog always seems to have an apitite. When feeding your White's, try to remember some few pointers:

- Try not to over-feed your White's. It is recomened that White's be fed once about every two to three days. Over-feeding can cause the White's to become obese. And in some extreme cases, they can become so obese that their supratympanic ridges become so large that they cover the frogs eyes, rendering them blind.

- A vitamin suppliment should be added to live food about once a week (more often if you are raising young frogs). REP-CAL and HERPCARE make good vitiman and mineral suppliments.

- Try feeding your White's a variety of foods. Although my frogs seem to like crickets exclusivly, most of the literature I have read on White's tree frogs recommends as much of a variety of foods as your frogs will eat.

- If capturing insects or worms from the wild, be shure that it is from an area that is free of chemical and pesticides.

Some food that White's will eat...

- Crickets (Acheta domestica)
- Mealworms
- Fruitflies
- "Pinky" or "Fuzzy" mice
- Cockroaches
- Grasshoppers and Locusts
- Earthworms
- Houseflies
- Frogs (not recommended)
- Raw Meat and Fish
