Part II

Now, in contrast with the orthodox, Romanized version of Jesus in the West there is another tradition. A belief that has permeated much of the Mid and Near East.

This belief holds that Jesus came in the tradition of the Eastern Masters, even as a "Buddha." A great soul they regard him as, even as a Great Buddha. And they say that he spent his lost years of the ages of 13 to 29 traveling in the East and learning the ways of the Buddhas and the Priest classes of the religions there and preaching to the people.

When some friends of mine and myself were preparing a presentation on this topic several years ago we brought a map of where Jesus journeyed to a copy store in Seattle which has people from the middle east working there. When they saw our map and that the name "Issa" appeared on it they were very pleased that someone in the West knew their tradition- that Issa had traveled in their land and taught their people. Issa is the name they use for Jesus.

I will share some of the basic texts now about Jesus in India. All quotes are from "The Lost Years of Jesus" by Elizabeth Clare Prophet. We highly recommend this book as it has the full text of each of several different manuscripts translated from Himalayan manuscripts. It also contains the full story of the discoveries of these texts.

Eastern Texts on "Saint Issa" (Jesus)

"The all merciful Judge elected to become incarnate in a human being... to demonstrate by example how a man may attain purity and the degree of perfection necessary to enter into the kingdom of heaven."

"The Earth trembled and the heavens wept because of a great crime committed in the land of Israel. For they have tortured and put to death the great and just Issa, in whom dwelt the soul of the universe."

The Supreme God, Father of the Universe, out of great compassion for sinners, desired to appear on earth in human form. That Incarnation appeared as a soul separate from that Supreme Soul who has no beginning, no end and is above all consequence.

(He) descended to show how a soul can unite with God and realize eternal bliss,

And assumed a human form to demonstrate in his own life how a mortal can achieve righteousness and separate the soul from the mortal body in order to gain immortality and proceed to that heaven of the Father of the Universe, where there exists eternal bliss.

(He) appeared as an immaculate child in the land of Israel. The child became the spokesman of the Father of the Universe to explain the transient nature of the body and the glory of the soul... P234).. People from everywhere came to listen to the wise sayings from the mouth of this child, and the sons of Israel unanimously proclaimed that the infinite, merciful Supreme Soul who knows no beginning, no end existed in the child."

At the age of 13 Israelites get married. Issa's house became crowded with rich and aristocratic who wanted their daughters to marry Issa but "Issa was unwilling to marry" and he secretly decided to leave his father's house.

At that time the desire was very strong in his mind to attain perfection through devotional service to God and that he should study religion with those who had attained enlightenment. and for the study of the laws of the Great Buddha. He left Jerusalem, joined a groups of Traders, and set out for the land of Sind (South Pakistan) where they used to purchase merchandise for export to various countries...In due course he arrive at the home of Jagannath,... and became a disciple of the Brahmins. He endeared himself to everyone and it was there that he began reading, learning, and expounding the Vedas."

Another Myster throughout the last 2,000 years has been the role of Woman in society, her relation to Man and to God. The world would have been a far, far happier place had we heard adn headed these words of Jesus/Issa in the Himalayan texts.

Saint Issa on Woman

(From Legends of the East. Issa is an Eastern name for Jesus)

"Thou just man," said the disguised servant of the ruler of Jerusalem approaching Issa, "teach us, should we fulfill the will of Caesar or await the approaching deliverance?"

But Issa, recognizing the disguised servants, said, "I have not said unto you that you would be delivered from Caesar, but I said that the soul which was immersed in sin would be delivered from sin."

At this time, an old woman approached the crowd, but was pushed back by one of the disguised ones. Then Issa said, "Reverence woman, mother of the universe. In her lies the truth of creation. She is the foundation of all that is good and beautiful. She is the source of life and death. Upon her lies the life of man, because she is the succor of his labors. She gives birth to you in travail, she watches over your growth. Until her very death you bring anguish to her. Bless her. Honor her. She is your only friend and sustenance upon earth. Reverence her. Defend her. Love your wives and honor them, because tomorrow they shall be mothers, and later-the mothers of the human race. Their love inobles man, soothes the embittered heart and tames the beast. Wife and mother- invaluable treasure. They are the adornments to the universe. From them issues all which peoples the universe.

"As light divides itself from darkness, so does womankind possess the gift to divide in man good intent from the thought of evil. Your noblest thoughts shall belong to woman. Gather from them thy moral strength, which you must possess to sustain your near ones. Do not humiliate her, for therein you humiliate yourselves. And through this shall you lose the feeling of love without which naught exists upon earth. Bring reverence to thy wife and she shall defend you. And all which you do to mother, to wife, to widow or to another woman in sorrow- that shall you also do for the Spirit." So taught Issa.

This is a visual representation of our inner reality. It will allow us to get more of an image of what we mean by Christhood as the goal.

This image is one of the greatest keys to self understanding and to seeing what Jesus meant by his somewhat difficult to understand statements.

The Chart of the Presence******

The Tree of Life

And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the brightness of it and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bear 12 manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
Revelation 22:1-2
*********** This picture shows three figures. The top figure is the superconscious part of you. It is God individualized for each one of us. We all have an individualization of the God Self right above us. The middle figure is the Christ Presence. It looks like Jesus Christ because he personified that Presence for us so we would have an example. Each persons Holy Christ Self actually looks like them, but in a perfected form. The lower figure symbolizes our soul in the state of spiritual evolution.

If our thoughts and feelings are high and constructive, then we grow closer to this Presence and this Presence also grows closer to us. As the Bible says, "Draw nigh to Me and I will draw nigh to thee!" The evolving soul and ego must grow out of the state of ignorant unconsciousness. The object of life is to merge this superconscious God Self and the Christ Presence more and more with our own self here below. This is what Jesus meant when he said that the Father and the Son would take up their abode with us.

And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven clothed with a cloud and a rainbow was upon his head and his face was as it were the sun and his feet as pillars of fire. Revelation 10:1

The upper figure is called the "I AM" Presence. It is a representation of the I AM THAT I AM that appeared to Moses. It is pure God awareness and is unaware of human imperfection. God spoke from this level when he said in the Bible "Mine eyes are too pure to see iniquity."

"..they shall say to me, What is his name? What shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.... This is my name forever, and this is my memorial unto all generations." Exodus 3:13-15

Around the upper figure are rings of Light. Each color represents one of the Seven Rays. Each one of the Seven Archangels and Seven Spirits of God- the Elohim- serves on one these rays. They also correspond to the "Seven Churches" and their perversions are seen in the seven plagues of the Book of Revelation. When we do good deeds we "lay up treasure in heaven" which means we have energy stored in these rings of energy. This is referred to as our "causal body."

"There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial:
One star differeth from another star in glory."
I Corinthians 40-41

The middle figure is the Christ level, or the level of the Son of God. This Presence mediates between the absolute perfection of the upper Presence and the evolving lower figure. It gives us mercy or justice as needed to make the most progress. The Christ Presence releases as much energy down the chrystal cord as the soul and evolving ego at the lower level can safely use. The Christ instructs the soul as to how the laws of the I AM Presence (impersonal) apply to the soul's personal situation. There is no set rule that always applies in every situation. Obedience is not a rigid formula. One must attempt to carry out the law as best one can but some times there are "quirky" circumstances we get into where we must be creative in love. We must work with the I AM Presence as a friend. 1

The individual Christ Presence continually flashes images of direction and understanding to the soul. These are absorbed into the subconscious and hopefully brought out into the conscious mind of everyday life.

"And God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten Son into the world" is a famous phrase

This may refer to the I AM Presence (the Father) sending out the Christ Presence into the imperfect planes of matter in order to save evolving life from ignorance and darkness. The Father, an extremely intense dynamo of beautiful, magnificent creation, sent a steeped down version of Himself/Herself into the lower planes of evolving life. This is the Universal Christ, personified as a tangible Presence for each soul. This phrase can also be seen to refer to the Hierarchy of Light, or Brotherhood of Light sending Avatars, self realized beings into the planes of earth like ours in order to be Teachers and examples.

"My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. "

By this Jesus partially meant that the I AM Presence and the Christ Presence which Jesus had become totally integrated with work together. They are a team. This tells about how we can work with God, our I AM Presence above us, also. In another way he may have referred to his working with his Ascended Master Teacher at that time whom he called Father.

The lower level represents the soul and the evolving ego. The person in the chart is standing in the "Tube of Light" descending from the Presence. This Tube of Light seals the evolving soul and ego consciousness from mass negativity. It can actually be made more powerful than armor. In order to get a tube-of-light around you you need to call for it adn visualize it and ask for it through the formulas given us by the Ascended Masters.

"Put on the whole armor of God." This armor is Light. The Masters call it "Ascended Master Light Substance". It seals the body, emotions, mind, chakras, aura and soul in Heavenly protection and perfection that cannot be hurt by any force in this world. The Masters teach us how to do this.

I and my Father are one!

Such affirmations as this given to us by Jesus for our use have definite power. They create the reality that we speak in the inner atmosphere where the subtle energies of life are effected by our creative words. We draw closer to the Father by giving this fiat. If done with the right attitude we can enter into the reality of this statement by meditating on it, visualizing it happening and speaking it.

Happy are those who will have washed their robes clean, so that they will have right to feed on the tree of life and come through the gates into the city. Rev. 22:14 (Jerusalem Bible)

The robes are the garments of the soul. These are her different bodies used while incarnate. The soul while incarnate is attached to the physical body most closely at the "hara" as they call it in the orient, the place underneath the navel. At inner levels of being near that point there is a chakra, a center of power which is called the "seat of the soul chakra". "At inner levels "refers to higher frequencies of being. Life is active on virtually infinite levels of vibration or frequency, only a few of which we can see. The I AM Presence and Christ Self are generally at a much higher level than our consciousness. We can raise up to that level by mastering our thoughts and feeling and using the flames of God to raise us up.

Summary

We have seen that we are not wholly dependent on the Bible for our understanding of Jesus Message. In addition to the Indian texts we also have another source- the writings of the early Christian Gnostics

Gnostics

Gnosticism is a term applied to a number of different religious sects before and after Jesus. Gnostics sought "gnosis", which is a Greek word that means knowledge. The Gnostics shared a common belief that the means to salvation was not primarily through faith, or through the Church, but through gnosis, knowledge- self-knowledge. But for the Gnostics, gnosis was not worldly or rational knowledge, gnosis was knowledge of God. They believed that when they truly understood themselves and their own Higher Self they would know themselves as aspects of God, as parts of God, indeed, that they were made of "God stuff.".

In the first few centuries of Christianity there were great differences of opinion over what the true teachings of Jesus and his disciples were and how the Church should be constructed. Like the Eastern Buddhists, Gnostics taught that ignorance is the major block to spiritual progress.

The Gnostics sought self-knowledge then and people still seek it today. Our inner self knowledge is really what the new age is all about. People seek inner self knowledge in many ways. They want to know themselves and Life. They want real answers to life's puzzles- What is Consciousness? What is the divine spark within me? What is the inner Christ? How can I unlock this potential and become my real self? In fact, who is God ? And what is God? And just where is God? And how can I make this all practical in my life? The early also Gnostics spoke to these questions. There are some beautiful excerpts from their writings below. All these are actual words of Jesus contained in Gnostic texts that were not allowed in the Bible.

Quotes of Jesus from banned books

When you come to know yourself then you will become known and you will realize that it is you that are the sons of the living Father. But if you will not know yourself you will dwell in poverty. Gospel of Thomas

Know who God is. Know who is the one who thinks in you. Know who is God and who is the one who thinks in you. A good man is the work of God. A man who is worthy of God, he is God among men, and he is the Son of God. Sentences of Sextus

Jesus said to his disciples "Compare me to someone and tell me whom I am like. Simon Peter said to him "You are like a righteous angel." Matthew said to him "You are like a wise philosopher." Thomas said to him, "Master my mouth is wholly incapable of saying who you are like." Jesus replies to Thomas "I am not your master. Because you have drunk you have become drunk from the stream which I have measured out. He who will drink from my mouth will become as I AM. I myself shall become he. And the things that are hidden will be revealed to him. Gospel of Thomas

From now on, then, my son, return to your divine nature. Do not bring grief and trouble to the Divine which is within you.

Teachings of Sylvanus

Jesus said the following to Thomas because he had become that Christ Presence in action, in his thoughts and his feelings, and he reflected it.

Since it is said that you are my twin, and my true friend, examine yourself and understand who you are, how you live, and what will become of you. Since you are called my brother you should not be ignorant about yourself, for whoever does not know self does not know anything, but whoever knows self already has acquired knowledge about the depth of the universe. Book of Thomas the Contender

The kingdom is inside you, and it is outside you. When you come to know yourselves then you will become known, and you will realize that it is you, you who are sons of the Living Father Gospel of Thomas

What you see you shall become... You saw Spirit and you became Spirit. You saw Christ and you became Christ. You saw the Father, you shall become Father. Gospel of Phillip

All men who shall receive the mysteries of the ineffable will be fellow kings with me in my kingdom and I am they and they are I... Pistis Sophia

Keep the holy commandments of Jesus Christ and you will reign over every place on earth and you will be honored by the angels and the archangels. Then you will aquire them as friends and fellow servants. Do not bring grief to the Divine which is within you. He who guards himself from doing anything insolent is one who keeps his guiding principle. Although he is a man who exists on earth he makes himself like God. Let Christ alone enter your world and let him bring to naught all powers that have come upon you. Let him dwell in the temple within you and may you become for him a priest and a Levite entering in purity.

Teachings of Sylvanus

As you can see, these are much more like Buddhism than orthodox Christianity. They stress enlightenment and self understanding, gnosis and realization of the self rather than stressing sin, forgiveness and repentance. If we look closely we can see another Eastern theme running through the Jesus Teachings. It is

Jesus on the Laws of Karma

Here are some statements by Jesus from the Bible that clearly relate to karma. I hope you will find these quotes and the larger vision they offer as interesting as I did when I became aware of them.

For whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Galations 6:7

Karma is the basis of the evaluation of ours life's doings- how have we used the energy that God gives us every day through our chrystal cord.

...and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. Revelation 20:12

You can see how this directly contradicts the idea of "vicarious atonement" which say that Jesus did it all for us (paid our karma and did all the work needed for us to be in the Heaven worlds.) No, in reality we get what we deserve plus gives us as a gift as grace. But we still have to qualify. God doesn't want a bunch of indulgent, spoiled brats running around the universe who won't take responsibility for what they do because they think that Jesus "paid all my debts ahead of time." There are actually recording angles who gather information on everything we do and it is written in our own Book of Life every day. Each night before we go to bed we can call on the Law of Forgiveness for all mistakes of our day and ask the Flames of God's Mercy erase from the Book of Life that record. See our articles on the Violet Flame for more information. Until we erase it by the Flames of Mercy, it remains in our books. When we do use the Flame it actually goes line by line in our Books erasing all negative events. Otherwise we have to deal with the karmic return some point in the future.

Now back to the Bible quotes on Karma

Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them. For this is the law and the prophets. Matthew 7:12 The law of the prophets *is* the Law of Karma.

For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law till all be fulfilled. Matthew 5:18 Those jots are the recording angels jots in the our Book of Life.

With what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged. And with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again... Matthew 7:2

...every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. Matthew 12:36, 37

Our words are our most powerful way of qualifying energy. See also our article on the Science of the Spoken Word and the section under Chakras, specifically the Throat Chakra.

...every man shall bear his own burden. {karmic burden} Gal. 6:5

All who draw the sword will die by the sword.

Matthew 26:52 (JB)

He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity. He that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. Revelation 13:1

Many of Jesus teachings were about how to make good karma and how to deal with the return of bad karma. If you read the Bible again and try to see things as the Law of Karma at work or Jesus giving teachings on karma it can open up a whole new world for you. For instance the Sermon on the Mount is all about karma. God's warning to the children of Israel are all about the karmic return of their misdeeds which are returning upon their doorstep. They are not so much the "wrath of God" as the karma of the misuse of sacred life energy returning to people who must learn the hard way because they didn't learn from their Teachers. God may say to us through true prophecy "Please change- you are making tremendous negative karma- disqualifying the energy that I give you. If you do not change I will have to let your karma come back so you can experience the reality of what you are doing, of the energy you are ignorantly putting out. If I don't let it return you will continue forever until you are self-destroyed." God always prefers the gentle way of our learning our lessons without some dreadful event happening in our life.
