Returning to the Field

The one-year break we had in Singapore is soon coming to an end. God willing, on 2nd June, we will be returning to the Philippines to resume the work for the Lord there. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to all of you, who have supported us in one way or another during our time here. Here is a little update:

Thanksgiving for our children

Three of us returned to Singapore in May last year, and now we return with four! We praise the Lord for adding Michael to our family, and for enabling him to grow well. At seven months, he is now about 8.5 kilogrammes, being nourished with mother's milk and home-cooked baby food. He is able now to sit up without support for a long time, and delights everyone who sees him. Stella is now six and a half years old and has grown taller (1.15 m). Her appetite has improved. Due to the recurring problem she has with tummy pains however, she is a little underweight. We thank the Lord for enabling her to do well in her studies. The school has advised us to purchase the textbooks for the next few years, so that she will be able to keep up with the Singapore curriculum while she attends school in the Philippines. This will enable her to merge back smoothly into the local education system later on. Frieda will have to coach her in Chinese (2nd language), since Faith Academy does not have this subject. She is already registered to start grade 1 at Faith Academy in August.

From One Work to Another

Since June last year Charles has had a total of 115 speaking engagements, including one in Batam (Indonesia), Kemaman and Kulai Besar (West Malaysia) and Adelaide (Australia). Besides these, he has also had the opportunity to teach two 2-hour courses at Far Eastern Bible College (The Pentateuch and The OT Historical Books), and work on several new book covers for FEBC Press. Frieda had 3 speaking engagements, two at Sunday School and one at a Ladies Fellowship. We give praise to God for all these opportunities to minister to the saints here. We also thank God for enabling Charles to complete his M.Div thesis on time.

Charles will have to start teaching at the Center for Biblical Studies two days after we return to the Hilltop in the Philippines. He has three subjects: Pentateuch, OT Poetical Books and Greek I. He has also been assigned the task of setting up class syllabi for the courses taught at CBS, so that the students will have printed lecture notes for every subject. A New Mailing Address
