He married Sarah Evelyn WHISENANT, daughter of Noah WHISENANT and Sarah Ann POTTS, circa 1846. Born, 23 May 1825, in Burke Co., NC[1]. Died, 27 Jan 1915, in Burke Co., NC[1]. Burial in Zion Bapt., Ch. Cem., Burke Co., NC. Census: 1900, in Burke Co., NC.

Sarah Eveline Lowdermilk, widow of the late William Alberta Lowdermilk, died Jan. 27, being stricken with paralysis for two weeks. Her maiden name was Sarah Eveline Whisnant, daughter of Noah and Polly Whisnant. She was born May 23, 1825 and was 89 years, 8 months and 4 days old. She was married to William Alberta Lowdermilk in the year 1846. There were nine children born to this union, 5 deceased -- James, William, Mary, Sarah and Catharine. Those left to mourn her loss are one daughter, wife of W. F. Hallyburton, George, John, and Thomas Lowdermilk and a host of friends and relatives. She lived a consistent member of the Methodist church for over 60 years and was loved by all who knew her....
