We were assisted by a distant relative who has a bookstore in Yarmouth. It was a memorable trip, but one of the highlites for me was a visit to Roberts Island where my GGF Wil iam Whitehouse grew up. There are very few occupied homes on the island, most of them very old. Otherwise just some old cellars. I saved some rocks from the area near where my GGF lived. Could it be possible that some of the families still living there n Roberts Island could know of any Whitehouses'. One very familiar feature of the island was the boggy areas, and what looked like the biggest Brown Dog Ticks I have ever seen. Any of this sound familiar, appreciate any response. Grant Whitehouse |

I know the Micmac helped the Acadiens during deportation time but after that not much infor ation is given on how the two cultures might have lived together in every day life... And there were many records stating the Acadiens did mix with the Micmacs very frequently. The reason I picked this topic is because my grandmother claims her blodd has some Micmac in it.. Who know's... Also I was interested in doing a family tree.. The only problem I have is that I live in Boston.. So First I will have to dig the background info out of my grandmother..then perhaps start asking questions and see what I can do about tracing my roots back. . Here is a question for you.. You Claim in your Surname listing that Muise and Doucett were two of the most prominent surnames in Yarmouth...Why is that??? Were did the first Muise and Doucette come from or originate in Yarmouth?? I know the two names are cadien that is all...
