Bible truths that I'm learning in my everyday life

Luke 12:22-34 and Matthew 6:19-24

My husband is being transferred to the Twin Cities area just before Christmas. This has made me open to listening to God in this area - the area of where and what my treasures really are.

God has been letting me know through His word and the various teachings that I hear and read that I have more to learn in the area of treasures. In these passages I really see that God has everything under His control and I shouldn't be worried at all.

My biggest problem has been the storing up of treasures here on earth (I am a pack rat). I save things for sentimental reasons. I save things because I bought them. I save things that I don't know what to do with. I am hoarding things - and they are not important!

I have started to dejunk my home (kicking and screaming some days :-)) and it is really helping. All "my" things have been coming between the Lord and I. How can I show His generosity if I am not willing to share the blessings that He has given to me?

Luke 12:30 "All these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but YOUR FATHER KNOWS that you need these things. But seek for His kingdom, and these things shall be added to you."

In the society in which we live, it is too easy to get caught up in the search for not only the basics of life but the stuff that just make our lives easier. My Father in heaven, my Lord and Saviour, knows just what is necessary in my life and will provide for me. I just need to be obedient.

Luke 12:34 "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

I ask God each day to put my priorities in His order. I need to fall in line with what things are important to Him and I do need His all powerful help to bring my priorities to His.
