------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ An examination of conscience for “good people.” The following is for people who need help figuring out what to confess, because they've moved past most of the “big stuff.” Most of the things on this list are not grave sins, but they're still almost always sins. Maybe you see yourself in one or two (or fourteen, like me) of these things? (This list is NOT exhaustive - Fr.Sensat) Pride, Self-reliance, Presumption, (I'm rarely wrong) Lack of effort in prayer, Negligence at work / in family, Talking too much, Always being the center of attention Luxury - having more than I need, Eating / drinking more than is healthy, Always seeking pleasure Often being late to Mass, Often leaving Mass early, Gossiping, Judging, Prejudice Not giving to the Church / poor, Envy, Holding impure thoughts, Holding impatience Abandoning parents / grandparents in the nursing home, Always wanting to “get something” out of prayer Picking arguments with coworkers / family members just to argue, Not holding to all of Church teaching Spending too much time watching TV or on the internet, Watching the wrong things, Being self-centered Not teaching my children / godchildren about the faith, Publically disagreeing with the Church Not helping those in need, Lack of gratitude to God, Not forgiving those who've hurt us,br> Caring more about the externals of the faith than conversion, Always trying to get the best for myself Not praying for those in my care (children, friends), Striving constantly to win others' approval Caring too much about my appearance, Being stubborn, Being overly-sentimental Trying to shut someone out of a group / conversation, Not putting the love of God first in all things) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Community of Jesus Christ Crucified will be sponsoring a “prayer clinic” at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Carencro on August 22nd from 8:00am to 2:00pm (please bring a bagged lunch).
