Daisy, also known as Daisy-bacca, is our pride and glory. Every day when we come home from work, she is so happy to us! Always full of energy... and always ready to play games. Some of her favorite games are: "you chase me, then I'll chase you" ; "throw my rubber chicken leg and I'll go get it" ;"look I found your socks and now they have holes in them" ; "look I found a box of tissue" ; "look, I ate your shoes" ; "look at that hole I just chewed in the wall". Always fun for the ENTIRE family!

You may be wondering where her full name came from, Daisy-bacca. Long research of Daisy's genealogy has tied a link to a very distant ancestor... a wookie by the name of "Chewbacca". Chewbacca, also known as "Chewy", has passed along a lot of genes to Daisy such as a full coat of hair and an occasional growl of energy.

Daisy has not always had an easy and healthy life. At the age of 1 year old, she was spayed and recovered quite well from the surgery. However, 6 months after the surgery, she developed four marble size bladder stones. The veterinary tried to dissolve (and pass) the stones with a special diet, but the efforts made the situation worse, blocking the bladder completely. Extensive surgery was done to remove the fragments of the stones from her bladder and urethra. Recovery was very difficult and we almost lost her, but all was well after a couple weeks. Then, as yet another shock, Daisy developed a condition known as "thrombocytopenia" which was probably a result of the bladder surgery. The condition acted on her body much like AIDS acts on humans. We REALLY almost lost her this time. Her body was basically eating her own white blood cells. Part of her treatment included steroids, which really helped her recover and put the condition into remission. However, Daisy gained a lot of weight! Her normal weight was about 13 lbs... it shot up to 20 very quickly.

Daisy is fine now but has still retained some of the weight, currently at 16 lbs. So, what do you call a shih-tzu on steroids? Arnold Shih-tzuneggar!!!!!!
