Educational Resources for Teachers

Although I've taught at almost every grade level from the 1st through 6th grades, I currently teach 6th grade Language Arts in a small, independent school system. Because of the size of our system, K-6 is at the elementary school, and the 7th-12th grades, are housed at the high school.

I do actually love teaching...those moments when a kid grasps something for the very first time, or when a student realizes, "Hey, I can really do this!", are what make it all worthwhile!! And yes,.. I'm one of those teachers who still gives *hugs*. You see, I believe that for so many of them, it's probably the only *hug* they will receive all day!

Great Gift...

All, and it's
Easy to
Exchange."

During this past year, I have realized what a valuable tool the internet can be. Do take the time to explore some of the links I have listed below. Hopefully some of them will aid teachers in finding many of the resources available. Feel free, if you find any that are beneficial, to add them to your home page.

You Might Be In Education If...

  • You believe the staff room should be equipped with a Valium salt lick.
  • You believe chocolate is a food group.
  • You can tell it's a full moon without ever looking outside.
  • You believe "shallow gene pool" should have its own box on the report card.
  • When out in public you feel the urge to talk to strange children and correct their behavior.
  • You think people should be required to get a government permit before being allowed to reproduce.
  • You believe in aerial spraying of Prozac.
  • Your personal life comes to a screeching halt at report card time.
  • You believe no one should be permitted to reproduce without having taught in an elementary setting for at least 5 years.
  • Meeting a child's parents instantly answers the question, "Why is this kid like this?"

    "A hundred years from now
it will not matter what my bank account was,
the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove...
..but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child."
