Alana's Bread Recipes

Here you will find some of our my favorite recipes.

Favorite Banana-Nut Bread

1 cup butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. soda
4 cups flour
6 large, very ripe bananas, mashed
1 cup finely chopped pecans

Cream together butter and sugar.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Sift dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture.
Add bananas and nuts.
Pour into two well-greased loafpans
and bake at 250 or 300 degrees F from 1 to 2 hours.
A few of the pecans may be saved for sprinkling
over the top of each loaf before baking.
Yield: 2 loaves

Apple Streusel Muffins

Topping:
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/4 cup flour
3 Tbs. sugar
2 Tbs. butter, softened
1/4 tsp. cinnamon

Muffins:

1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cups sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 cup diced apple
1 tsp. cinnamon

In medium bowl,
combine topping ingredients with a fork until crumbly.
In lage bowl,
combine dry ingredients for muffins.
Beat eggs in a separate bowl;
whisk in sour cream and butter
Stir in apples.
Pour over dry ingredients and stir until moistened.
Spoon batter into 12 greased muffin cups.
Sprinkle topping over each muffin.
Bake at 375 degrees F from 20-25 minutes.

Yeast Dinner Rolls

PartA:

Mix together and let sit until bubbly: 2 pkgs. dry yeast,
1/2 tsp. sugar and 1/2 cup lukewarm water.

PartB:

In a large bowl mix: 1/2 cup oleo, 2 cups lukewarm water,
1/2 cup sugar and 1 1/2 tsp. salt. Add 1 egg.
Add yeast mixture and 5 or more cups flour.

Add flour until not sticky.
1 1/2 cups flour

Place in Refrigerator and let rise until needed. Make rolls
to suit your needs---cloverleaf, cinnamon. etc. Let rise about 2 hours.
Bake at 400 degrees about 10 minutes or until lightly brown.
