Berwyn Community Guide

Community Overview

Berwyn is a town of about 45,500 8 miles west of downtown Chicago. Its proximity to the city makes it popular with commuters. Retail and commercial development is mixed with residential development. Recreational opportunities include the Park District's programs. Grade school-aged children attend district 98 and 100 schools, while secondary students go to Morton West High School, district 201. (See below for details on schools).

Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-290/Eisenhower Expwy., I-55/Stevenson Expwy.), and major local roads (Cermak Ave., Harlem Ave.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by Metra Burlington Northern Line (BN). Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 12 minutes. Local bus service is available from PACE.
