Brookfield Community Guide

Community Overview

Brookfield is a village of about 19,000 13 miles west of downtown Chicago. Brookfield is best know for its zoo (8400 W. 31st., 708-485-2200), and has an active Recreation Department which offers programs for all ages. Most grade school-aged children attend district 95, while others are served by districts 96, 102 or 103. Secondary students go to Riverside-Brookfield High, district 208 or Lyons Township High, district 204. (See below for details on schools).

Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-90/Eisenhower Expwy., I-55/Stevenson Expwy.), and major local roads (I-34/Ogden Ave., First Ave.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by the Metra Burlington Northern Line (BN). Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 24 minutes. Local bus service is available from PACE.
