Calumet Park Community Guide

Community Overview

Calumet Park is a town of about 8,500 21 miles south of downtown Chicago. Recreational opportunities include the Recreation Department's programs and the facilities and wildlife along the Cal-Sag Channel. Grade school-aged children attend school in district 132. Secondary students go to Eisenhower (Blue Island), Shepard (Palos Heights), or Richards (Oak Lawn) High Schools, all in district 218. (See below for details on schools).

Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-94/Calumet Expwy., I-294/Tri-State Tollway, I-394 - Calumet Expwy., I-90 - Chicago Skyway), and major local roads (Rt. 1, 127th. St). Commuter service to downtown is provided by the Metra Electric Line (ME) in Blue Island. Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 35 minutes (express).
