Evanston Community Guide

Community Overview

Evanston is a town of about 74,000 bordering Chicago on the north. The city is home to several universities and colleges. Recreational opportunities include the programs of the Park and Recreation Department and the beaches and parks along Lake Michigan. District 65 serves elementary school children and secondary students go to Evanston High School, district 202. (See below for details on schools).

Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-94/Edens Expwy., I-90/Kennedy Expwy.), and major local roads (Sheridan Rd., Dempster St.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by four local CTA lines. The RTA Travel Info. Number is 1-800-972-7000.
