Gurnee Community Guide
Community Overview
Gurnee is a village of about 14,000 45 miles north of downtown Chicago. Gurnee is well known for Great America Theme Park and Gurnee Mills Mall. Gurnee also offers recreational and cultural opportunities through its Park District programs, and events at the Lambs Farm complex. Grade school-aged children attend either district 50 or 56 schools. Secondary students go to Warren Township High School, district 121. (See below for details on schools).
Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-294//Tri-State Tollway,) and major local roads (U.S. 41). Commuter service to downtown is provided by Metra at the Libertyville or Waukegan stations. Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 65-70 minutes.
