Harwood Heights Community Guide

Community Overview

Harwood Heights is a village of about 7,700 12 miles west of downtown Chicago. The town's border with Chicago gives it access to city amenities such as transportation. Recreational opportunities include the programs of the Norridge Park District. Grade school-aged children attend district 79, 80, and 86 schools. Secondary students attend either Ridgewood High school, district 234, or Maine Township South High, district 207. (See below for details on schools).

Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-90/Kennedy Expwy.), and major local roads (Irving Park Rd., Harlem Ave.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by the CTA at nearby Jefferson Park. Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 20 minutes. Local bus service is available from PACE.
