Highland Park Community Guide

Community Overview

Highland Park is a city of about 30,000 26 miles north of downtown Chicago. The village is well-known as the site of the Ravinia Music Festival. The village provides social and recreational services for senior and young residents. The town also has recreational facilities including an active Park District and forest preserves. Elementary schoolchildren attend district 112 schools and go on to Highland Park High School in district 113. (See below for details on schools).

Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-41-94/Edens Expwy., I-294/Tri-State Tollway),and major local roads (I-22, Sheridan Rd.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by Metra-Milwaukee District North Line (MD-N). Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 33 minutes (express).
