Hillside Community Guide

Community Overview

Hillside is a village of about 7,700 17 miles west of downtown Chicago. The town has a mix of residential, business, and commercial/retail development, including Hillside Mall. Recreational opportunities include Memorial Park District programs, Fresh Meadows Golf Course, and the Illinois Prairie Path. Most grade school-aged children are served by districts 87 or 93 (a small number attend district 88 schools), while secondary students go to Proviso West in district 209. (See below for details on schools).

Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-88/East-West Tollway, I-294/Tri-State Tollway, I-290/Eisenhower Expwy.), and major local roads (Butterfield Rd., Wolf Rd., Roosevelt Rd.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by Metra in Bellwood. Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 27 minutes. Local bus service is available from PACE. The RTA Travel Info.
