Itasca Community Guide

Community Overview

Itasca is a town of about 7,000 25 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. The village supports an active park district program and is bordered by the 42-acre Spring Brook Nature center and the Salt Creek Forest Preserve. Grade school-aged children are served by school district 10, while secondary students attend Lake Park High School, District 108. Three public schools, from Kindergarten through Eighth Grade, are located within Itasca's borders. (See below for details on schools).

Transportation needs are served by area highways ((Eisenhower Expwy. - I-290, Tri-State (I-294), North/South Tollway (I-355), East-West Tollway (I-88)) and major local roads (Rte. 19 - Irving Park Rd., Route 83, Arlington Hgts. Rd.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by Metra on the Milwaukee District Western (MD-W) line. Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 45 minutes.
