Joliet Community Guide

Community Overview

Joliet is a city of about 77,000 40 miles southwest of downtown Chicago. This growing community has a mix of commercial, industrial, and residential development. Recreational Opportunities include the programs and facilities of the Park District. Most grade school children attend district 86, while secondary students go to Joliet West or Central High Schools, district 204. Other grade school districts serving the community are Troy District 30-C, Laraway District 70-C, Union District 81, Rockdale District 84, and Plainfield District 202U.

Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-55, I-80), and major local roads (I-53, Rt. 52). Commuter service to downtown is provided by Metra's Rock Island Line (RI) or Heritage Corridor Line (HC). Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 60 or 65 minutes respectively.
