Lake Bluff Community Guide

Community Overview

Lake Bluff is a village of about 5,500 33 miles north of downtown Chicago. Primarily residential, the village has a small downtown area and a small industrial park on the west edge of town. Recreational opportunities include the programs of the Lake Bluff Park District and a 5 1/2 acre nature preserve suitable for birdwatching. Districts 65 and 72 serve grade school-aged children, while secondary students go to Lake Forest High School, district 115. (See below for details on schools).

Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-94//Tri-State Tollway, I-290/Eisenhower Expwy.),and major local roads (I-120/Belvidere Rd, I-45/Lake St.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by the Metra Milwaukee District North Line (MD-N) in Grayslake. Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 70-90 minutes.
