L Libertyville/Green Oaks Community Guide

Community Overview

Libertyville is a village of about 20,000 35 miles north of downtown Chicago. The town, while largely residential, has industrial development, including Motorola's light electronic assembly plant. Green Oaks is a neighboring village within Libertyville Township. Recreational/Cultural opportunities include the programs of the Park District and David Adler Cultural Center. Most grade school-aged children attend district 70 schools, while those south of Golf Road attend district 73. Green Oaks residents attend Oak Grove school, district 68. Secondary students go to Libertyville High School, district 128. (See below for details on schools).

Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-294/Tri-State Tollway and U.S. 41), and major local roads (I-176/Park Ave., I-21/Milwaukee Ave., I-137/Buckley Rd.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by Metra at the Lake Bluff station. Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 60 minutes). Local bus service is available from PACE.
