Mettawa is a residential village of about 350 35 miles north of downtown Chicago. The town was rated by the U.S. Census Bureau in 1992 as Illinois' wealthiest community. Recreational/Cultural opportunities include the facilities of nearby forest preserves and the park district programs in nearby Libertyville and Lake Forest.
