Mundelein Community Guide

Community Overview

Mundelein is a village of about 21,200 38 miles north of downtown Chicago. While primarily residential, industrial development has occurred, particularly along I-60 and U.S. 45. Recreational opportunities include the extensive programs of the Park District. Most grade school-aged children attend district 75 schools, while the remainder are served by districts 73, 76 and 79. Secondary students go to Mundelein High School, district 120. (See below for details on schools).

Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-94), and major local roads (Lake St., I-176/Maple Ave., I-60/Townline Rd.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by the Metra Milwaukee District North Line (MD-N) in Libertyville, as well as the new Metra line, which stops in Mundelein and other northern suburbs on its way to downtown via the O'Hare area. Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 60 minutes. Local bus service is available from PACE. The RTA Travel Info. Number is 1-800-972-7000.
