Naperville Community Overview

Naperville is a rapidly growing community of about 104,000 located 30 miles west of downtown Chicago. The rapid growth has led Indian Prairie District 204 to seek voter approval for a major bond issue to build several new schools to cope with the mushrooming school enrollment projected in the next few years. 34 public schools, encompassing districts 203 and 204, from Kindergarten through High School, currently are located within the borders of Naperville. (See below for details on schools). The Naper Settlement, with an open-air history museum, and the River Walk are tourist attractions. Naperville also has hundreds of acres of DuPage Forest Preserve Land, as well as an active Park District program.

Transportation needs are served by area highways ((Eisenhower Expwy. - I-290, Tri-State (I-294), North/South Tollway (I-355), East-West Tollway (I-88)) and major local roads (Rte. 38 - Roosevelt Rd., Routes 56 and 53). Commuter service to downtown is provided by Metra on the Burlington Northern (BN) line. Local bus service is available from PACE. The RTA Travel Info. Number is 1-800-972-7000.
