North Riverside Community Guide

Community Overview

North Riverside is a village of about 6,000 10 miles west of downtown Chicago. Recreational Opportunities include the facilities in the Village Commons Building (Auditorium & Multi-Purpose Gym) and at Veterans Park. Forest Preserve land along the Des Plaines River and Salt Creek offers biking and hiking trails. Brookfield Zoo is within walking distance. Grade school-aged children attend district 94 and 96 schools, while secondary students go to Riverside-Brookfield High School, district 208. (See below for details on schools).

Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-290/Eisenhower Expwy.), and major local roads (Cermak Road, Cumberland Ave., Harlem Ave.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by the Metra Burlington Northern Line (BN) in Riverside. Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 16 minutes (express).
