Richton Park Community Guide

Community Overview

Richton Park is a village of about 11,000 32 miles south of downtown Chicago. The village is primarily residential, but has undergone recent commercial development, particularly with the opening of the Sauk Trail I-57 interchange in 1991. Recreational opportunities include nine community parks and a variety of recreational facilities and programs. Grade school-aged children attend district 159 and 162 schools, secondary students go to Rich South High School, district 227. (See below for details on schools).

Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-57, I-80, I-294/Tri-State Tollway, I-94/Calumet Expwy.), and major local roads (Lincoln Hwy., Cicero Ave.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by the Metra Electric Line (ME). Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 60 minutes. Local bus service is available from PACE. The RTA Travel Info. Number is 1-800-972-7000.
