Western Springs Community Guide

Community Overview

Western Springs is a village of about 12,000 16 miles west of downtown Chicago. The town is primarily residential with a downtown shopping district. Recreational opportunities include the Park District's programs, a community center at the 150-year old Gray School House, and the facilities of the Bemis Woods Forest Preserve. Grade-school-aged children attend district 101 and 106 schools. Secondary students go to Lyons Township High Schools, district 204. (See below for details on schools).

Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-55/Stevenson Expwy., I-290/Eisenhower Expwy., I-294/Tri-State Tollway), and major local roads (Wolf Rd., Ogden Ave.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by the Burlington Northern Line (BN) in LaGrange. Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 30 minutes. Local bus service is available from PACE.
