Wheeling Community Guide

Community Overview

Wheeling is a village of about 30,000 26 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. The town has a large industrial sector and residential development is a 60/40 mix of single- and multi-family dwellings. Recreational opportunities include the programs and facilities of the Park District, and extensive Forest Preserve acreage. Elementary school district 21 serves the community and secondary students attend Wheeling High School, district 214. (See below for details on schools).

Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-294/Tri-State Tollway, I-94/Edens Expwy.), and major local roads (Dundee Rd., I-83/Elmhurst Rd., Palatine/Willow Rd.).
