Donut Taste Test

The best-tasting donuts: Copp's Grocery Store

Methodology:

This test was done one morning at work. Three local bakeries were selected for the test, after asking around at work where people preferred to buy donuts. I bought glazed donuts from Copp's grocery store and Gene's Bakeshop, but found that Shirley's Country Donuts was closed for remodeling, and would only accept advance orders of at least two dozen donuts. This was disappointing, because Shirley's was quite a popular location for many at work. I chose not to wait on ordering, due to my obligation to bring donuts to work on my birthday. Donut eaters marked their preference down on a sheet of paper throughout the morning.

These results were very close-- if I hadn't voted, it would have been a tie. Gene's was a much darker and firmer donut than the Copp's donut. The Copp's donut was described as "mushy" or "not having much flavor" among those who preferred the Gene's donut. Some detected the flavor of bacon in the Gene's donut, indicating that it may have been fried in bacon grease. Gary commented that he likes bacon, but bacon-flavor just doesn't go with donuts. I liked the light color and texture of the Copp's donuts. I'll probably buy Copp's in the future, though I may try Shirley's someday, too, when they are done remodeling.
