Mounting Up On Eagle's Wings
"They that wait upon the Lord will renew their strength, they shall mount up on wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” -- Isaiah 40:31

Keeping It Intimate
September 11th brought us a realization of our venerability and just how much we really should depend on the Lord. The words pierce our hearts, “Trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on our own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight.” --Proverbs 3:5-6

How do we trust in the Lord? We must discover what it is to have a holy passion for Jesus and how to cultivate intimacy and closeness with our Lord. We must find out what will help and what will hinder us from developing that open personal interaction with the Holy One we love so dearly. “Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth - for your love is better than wine.” -- Song of Solomon 1:2 I say intimacy, which is necessary and should be our first priority.

Intimacy with the Lord is more important than our work or service in the church, more important than our titles or degrees. It is a choice that should be made; it should cause our hearts to seek after Him. Intimacy is the enduring aspect of a relationship with the Lord.

As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. but Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “You are worried and upset about many thins, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better and it will not be taken away form her.”-- Luke 10:38-42 (NIV)

Strength vs. Weakness

“Be strong in the Lord and the power of His might. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against rulers, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” -- Ephesians 6:10-12

So how does this full armor thing work? By surrounding yourselves with the word of God, allowing its wisdom to penetrate your heart and soul and in doing  this, it  will help you in your weakness to become strong in the Lord. Understand that God works against our flesh because the flesh is carnal, focus on the word of God, it will draw you closer to His Holiness.

“Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things,  -- Philippians 4:8

Thoughts, positive or negative, grow stronger when fertilized with constant repetition. That may explain why so many who are gloomy and gray stay in that mood, and why others who are cheery and enthusiastic continue to be so, even in the midst of difficult circumstances, mounting themselves up on eagle’s wings.
