Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to you and your loved ones from the congregation of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, located in Keene, Kentucky, a small village of Nicholasville, Kentucky. It is our hope and desire to extend to you the grace and peace of our Lord as you seek to learn about our community of faith serving at Mt. Pleasant now for almost two hundred years in this community.
Our church seeks through the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit to be a place where you can come and find rest. We believe you will experience this rest as you come and join us in worship and fellowship. It is our hope that we offer to all who come in the living example of our Lord's words spoken through the Living Word of the Holy Scriptures, "Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matthew 11: 28-30 KJV.
We want to encourage you and your loved ones to seek the Lord with all your heart knowing that God is faithful in His promises and will enable you to find Him through His grace and love. We believe that it is the Lord who builds His church and that we are to come together to seek to build up and encourage one another as we grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ and become more like Him in our daily lives.
We believe that Jesus Christ is God and the exact image of His person and glory and that through Him alone is salvation provided for forgiveness of sins and a new life in God. We believe in God, the Father, God, the Son, and God, the Holy Spirit, three in one, a blessed Trinity. We believe that God's Holy Word is provided for us through the Bible as a living testimony of His plan of salvation and love for all of us. We believe in the infallibility and truthfulness without error of the Holy Scriptures in speaking to us about God's revelation to us in Jesus Christ revealed to us through His Word by the power of the Holy Spirit. We believe in the autonomy of the individual church and in the priesthood of the believers to seek the Lord's will by the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the Bible in coming together to learn of Jesus Christ. We seek to have the same attitude as Jesus Christ in working together in making disciples for Him by teaching them to observe His commandments and by baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.
Mt. Pleasant is an autonomous church that freely chooses to participate in the Southern Baptist Convention. We agree with the Baptist Faith and Message by Herschel H. Hobbs as a statement of our faith and message, not as a creed but as a general guideline in aiding the search of the Scriptures to discuss and share our beliefs. We actively participate in the Elkhorn Association of the Kentucky Baptist Convention and in the local Jessamine County Ministerial Association in our work to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ within our community.
Finally, I want to personally invite you to come and check us out. There is no better way to see our words put into action than to participate with us in worship and fellowship. I believe you will find our church to be a warm and loving congregation with doors open wide to receive all that seek the Lord with all their heart.
